SUMMARY
Achieving the goal of sustainability is both a possibility and an ecological and social necessity. Success in this endeavour will require the courage to undergo a far-reaching transformation in our values and ways of living. Schools have a special role to play in securing the future for young people. Not only can they prepare young people for a lifetime of learning and sustainable living: they can also put into practice sustainable measures that will inspire parents and the whole community to follow their example.
The project "Sustainability in action: thinking global and acting local" will promote an increase in awareness and changes in behaviour to contribute to a more sustainable future in terms of environmental integrity and a just society for present and future generations. The students and teachers of the partners' school will work together - using a collaborative e-learning platform for communication, action planning and exchange of materials and participating in activities of mobility - in order to discover - through active research methods, ludic and practical strategies - the ecological and ethical richness of biodiversity and sustainability. They will also be the promoters of an ecological style of life through active dissemination among the respective local communities.
